Remind this heart of mine, O Christ my Lord,
When I am sore distressed by foes around,
That countless saints of old, though deeply pressed,
Have found their strength in Thee and stood their ground.
The honeyed Psalms of David sing of peace
While he was grieved by troubles strong and long,
For he had found a greater, purer Strength,
Which made him shout and praise Thy Name in song.
If men of old could wholly trust in Thee,
And stoutly fight the fight of faith and win,
O, help me, God, to lay it all on Thee,
And, by Thy strength alone, to strive and win.
